Run Away Home: Shattered by Catherine Manett presents an intriguing set of characters and explores family dynamics and social issues. Themes of trauma and the search for identity and meaning resonate through every page. In this riveting sequel to Run Away Home: Tempered, Manett continues to captivate readers with the intertwined stories of Peter, Danny, Hayley, and Kara, as well as the introduction of compelling new characters. Manett skillfully develops the characters’ backgrounds, ethnicities, and environments, weaving together a tapestry of experiences that shape their decisions and relationships. From Peter's struggle with secrets and his rediscovery of his passion for cooking to Danny's ongoing battle with PTSD and search for his identity, each character's journey is nuanced and emotionally resonant.

Peter's attempts to care for Danny while facing his demons, Hayley's challenges as a homeless single mother, and Kara's internal turmoil as she grapples with her role as a parent are strong plot points ingeniously explored in this narrative.
