Hop on for an adrenaline-pumping thrill ride with Mark Hacker's Infliction Point. Shaken by the brutal murder of his former lover Kayla, disgraced FBI Agent Zach Axton receives more bad news when her killer, Charlie Moore, is acquitted of his crimes due to his intellectual disability. Kayla's father, Senator Bradley Reynolds, pursues his own form of justice, leading to an escalating chain of events that results in Charlie developing supreme intelligence beyond normal human capacity. Soon, Charlie begins a ruthless killing spree and, spurred on by his God complex, launches cyber attacks on financial markets and institutions that threaten to cripple society. Additionally, he attacks key areas of Austin, Texas, hoping to cause maximum casualties. Zach must now put his own life on the line to stop this madman from acting upon his nefarious plans.

Gritty, ambitious, and filled to the brim with action, suspense, and intrigue, Infliction Point is an absolute pageturner of a novel from beginning to end. Fans of the Jason Bourne series will have a blast with this book. Mark Hacker drops the reader into the scheme of things from the get-go, and it's a non-stop, action-packed odyssey from there on. The stakes keep rising higher, and you're never sure if your favorite characters will make it out alive toward the end. Zach's character is a fascinating foil to Charlie, who is every bit as intimidating as a villain can get. I loved the dynamic between Zach, Kelly, and Leon. The action scenes had me on the edge of my seat as Hacker's descriptive prose puts vivid imagery in my head. I also found the ending very satisfying. If you love fast-paced thrillers with compelling, multi-faceted characters, do not miss out on this book!

In Mark Hacker’s thriller, Infliction Point, Charlie Moore murders Kayla, Senator Bradley Reynolds’s daughter. Charlie's comprehension level made him unsuitable to stand trial for the crime, but Senator Reynolds wanted revenge and redemption. Senator Reynolds hoped that Charlie would eventually be able to stand trial because he believed in the revolutionary treatment that Dr. Anton Portillo had developed for traumatic brain injuries. Kayla’s death plunged Zach into a dark place only to be yanked back when Charlie escaped custody during a violent altercation. Zack’s experience in chasing serial killers proved to be his greatest asset as he set out to find Charlie. But Zach must face a deadlier, quicker, and smarter Charlie as he delves deeper into a deranged mind. Can Zach stop Charlie's rampage before more lives are lost?

Infliction Point by Mark Hacker had me on the edge of my seat from the first page. It was fast-paced and filled with brutality, murder, and action. I just kept turning the pages and could not put it down because I had to know what would happen next. The story captivated me right away and kept me wondering right up until the very end. The events were violent and left nothing to the imagination. The characters were authentic and relatable and could be any person I knew. Zach had a very difficult childhood that shaped him into the man he is today. His training served him well during his hunt for Charlie and allowed him to open up to his friends about his past. The book was masterfully crafted, a thrilling read that went well beyond what I had anticipated.

Infliction Point: A Zach Axton Thriller is a work of fiction in the action, thriller, and suspense genres. Penned by author Mark Hacker, the plot delves into FBI agent Zach Axton's quest for justice after the brutal murder of his beloved Kayla, the daughter of Senator Reynolds. As Senator Reynolds seeks revenge with unconventional methods, Zach is thrust into a dark world where a brilliant psychopath escapes an experimental government program, posing a grave threat to the city of Austin, Texas. With twists and turns at every corner, Zach must use his profiling skills to outsmart a dangerously intelligent adversary before it's too late in a blockbuster of a novel that's an adrenaline-fueled ride from start to finish.

I was immediately impressed by the narrative pace and the tension, with small details that kept me on the lookout for danger as I followed Zach's harrowing journey through a world of darkness and deceit. The complex characters, including Zach, Senator Reynolds, and the elusive psychopath, are well-realized with dialogue that balances neatly between accessible realism and something as stylish and exciting as you’d see on screen. This keeps things slick and amusing as the action heats up, and it allows the true moments of struggle and vulnerability to shine through even more when they occur. The fast-paced action and unpredictable twists are well-planned to hit just as you need a fresh angle on the story, with loads of tense and dialogue-driven exposition in between to get us to the next revelation. Mark Hacker's vivid descriptions and cinematic writing style also give a vibrant insight into the gritty streets of Austin and the twisted minds of its inhabitants. Overall, Infliction Point is a gripping thriller that left me craving more, and I’d highly recommend it to action-thriller fans everywhere.

In Infliction Point by Mark Hacker, the first installment of the Zach Axton Thriller series, FBI agent Zach Axton is devastated when his on-and-off girlfriend Kayla, daughter to a senator, is murdered by Charlie Moore. Moore, initially deemed unfit for trial, undergoes a brain procedure and emerges super-intelligent. He escapes and becomes more dangerous than ever. As Moore meticulously plans his next strike, utilizing advanced technology and deadly tactics, Axton and his team strategize to thwart Moore's neverending string of plans. Moore's escalating violence, fueled by his megalomania, sadistic tendencies, and obsession with destruction, is laid bare as he inflicts terror upon his victims. As the situation hits a near-breaking point, Axton's resilience and determination become paramount in the battle against Moore, culminating in a high-stakes showdown where every move is critical.

In Infliction Point, Mark Hacker never shies away from the raw intensity of grief, regret, and longing, namely Axton's unresolved feelings for Kayla, and that of her parents' grief over the loss, her mother Carol in particular. The author carries it through to fuelling that pain to stop more of it in others, with prose that sings with impact: “every cell in his body had developed vocal cords and was shrieking an impossibly loud, out-of-tune high-note." Zach Axton isn't initially a likable guy. He's made some choices and done some selfish things, and, even in the aftermath of a horrific murder, he continues to make it about himself. His redemption comes in the form of a dog named Koko and when the realization that what is about to happen is bigger than him, and bigger even than Kayla. The action is fantastic and the gruesomeness is no-holds-barred, the standout to me being a motorcycle accident that plays out in beautiful terror. This is a solid start to the series and I look forward to more Axton action.

Infliction Point by Mark Hacker is a Zach Axton thriller. FBI agent Zach has lost his soul mate to a man who can never stand trial. Her father, Senator Reynolds, won’t give up on getting justice and will do whatever is needed to get it – no matter what it is or how brutal he has to be. After all, he has friends in high and low places. Zach is dragged back into the case when a psychopath escapes from an experimental government program. He and the assistant DA go on the hunt, but that program is aimed at improving brain functioning – their prey is smart. Can Zach be smarter? He needs to get into the mind of a murderer, and he needs to do it fast. As the body count rises, Zach has to determine who to take down – the most intelligent criminal of all time or the senator with nothing to lose. Time is limited, and Zach must be prepared to do whatever is necessary to get justice.

Infliction Point by Mark Hacker is undoubtedly one of the best thrillers I have ever had the pleasure of reading. It is the first in a series that’s off to a great action-packed start, with a unique plot and so many twists and turns it will leave you dizzy. One thing is for sure, though – you won’t guess the ending. This story has some amazing characters who feel like real people, exquisitely developed and easy to like. The action really is non-stop; from the first page, you are dragged into a rollercoaster journey of drama, thrills, and spills that will leave you wondering where you are. The suspense is a killer as it keeps you on the hook all the way through, wondering what’s going to happen next, and the ending leaves you desperate to read the next book in the series. Fantastic story, highly recommended to anyone who loves a good thriller with plenty of drama.
