Go for It by Matthew Martino is about the ultimate dream of today’s young graduates and other members of the public: starting their own business and being successful at it. The book starts with Martino’s personal story about giving up his day job and starting a consultancy service. After ups and downs, success and disappointment, he managed to rescue his business, ultimately leading to the writing of this book. The book covers all the main aspects of running a business, from finding your niche and purpose, to planning and promoting it. The last chapter – Going for It – is a powerful call to action, advising the future entrepreneurs to never feel guilty about wanting to earn more money than a day job could offer. Being happy and achieving a sense of pride in what you do are other ingredients present in the final chapter, as well as throughout the whole book.

If you are about to set up your own business or you are just thinking about it, Go for It by Matthew Martino could be a starting point to help you make an informed decision. The title suggests an impulse that people sometimes need in order to move forward with their dreams and aspirations. It is refreshing when such books begin with the author’s personal story; this way the reader can see that dreams do come true and success can be achieved. Written in a friendly manner, jargon-free and laid out in well organized chapters, the book is both informative and motivational, just what you expect from its genre.
