Author Biography

Yes, being an author is a glamorous and noble profession… mingling with the celebrities, attending prestigious fundraisers, being interviewed on TV. :) But in REAL life, I’m just an average Joe… mow the lawn on the weekends, watch sports on TV, spend time with family, read books, try to balance the budget… basically, living a NORMAL LIFE… except for my passion for WRITING!

In September 2012, I finished my first novel “SECRET OF THE MUMMY”, which has been published on Amazon, B&N, Apple iStore, the Reader Store [Sony], Kobo, and others. The novel is set in ancient Egypt circa 1500 B.C., and is about 72,000 words [about 300 pages].

As a kid, I composed classical music. Then I got into jazz, pop, and rock, and later, music videos, with a bit of dabbling in animation software. [I love classic animated features like “Beauty and the Beast” and “Mulan”, as well as the artistry in anime!]

I also spent quite a few years competing in running events and triathlons [ran a few marathons and completed an Ironman]. That was in a “different life” – I still exercise regularly just for the fun of it, but no longer compete in events. What can I say? Interests change, new challenges arrive… and twenty pounds heavier, I‘m now in a different chapter of my life!

Did I mention my precious comic collection? I still have all my comics from when I was a kid - one of my prized possessions! DC versus Marvel – never could decide! :)

An archaeological discovery in an Egyptian tomb leads to the amazing story of a young princess who is chosen to reign as Pharaoh by three unidentified hooded figures. In Secret of the Mummy, Bjorn Street tells an amazing tale about the young girl Hatshepsut who is devoted to her father, the Pharaoh Thutmosis I. She follows him to learn what will be required of her one day to lead his kingdom. With the help of the High Priest Ani, Hatshepsut studies ancient scripture and practices elevating herself above her human form to attain the spiritual power needed to be a god on earth. Led by the Egyptian deity Amon, Hatshepsut transcends mortal boundaries and takes on the mantle of leadership in spite of tragedies, intrigues, and plots by jealous officials.

This story is masterfully crafted by Bjorn Street to provide a vivid picture of life during the reigns of Pharaoh Thutmosis I and his daughter Hatshepsut. At a very personal level, Secret of the Mummy offers a sympathetic look, through the eyes of an enlightened leader, at the lives of the common people and slaves during this period. Hatshepsut does not see things from the perspective of a pampered, entitled queen but rather as merely one person among many others. She enjoys the friendship of her ladies-in-waiting, loves a commoner deeply, and has concerns regarding the conditions under which others live.

The questions created by the discovery of her tomb and especially one particular artifact are puzzling to the ‘experts’ from all over the world. Street uses a tremendous surprise to provide an explanation and opens the door to even more unfathomable questions in this excellent book about intense love and selflessness.
