Author Biography

Wendy Miller is the author of romance and romantic suspense novels. She began writing as a child, and with the encouragement of her grandmother, as well as other family and friends, she eventually independently published her first novel, Tangled Deceit. She is often working on more than one project at a time, because her brain refuses to focus on only one.

Wendy is also a single mother of two sons, both of whom have ADHD. She homeschools both of them, as it allows them to be educated without being medicated.

When she isn't teaching her sons, researching or writing on her latest project(s), she enjoys reading, watching television and movies, listening to a huge variety of music, swimming, camping, and even fishing now and then (though she does not bait her own hook or remove her catch from the hook. Why do you think she had sons?).

You can learn more about Wendy on her website, http://www.wendy-miller.com. She also loves to hear from her readers, and you can email her through her website or at wendy@wendy-miller.com.

Laurelynn “Laurel” Bailey is a woman who defines herself by her profession —- detective, thank you very much -— but when she’s rear ended by a handsome lawyer named Alex, she begins to wonder if that’s all she is. From the beginning of Ripped Away, Wendy Miller takes readers on a fascinating roller coaster ride of romance, intrigue, kidnappings, and persistent ex-husbands. While trying to solve several kidnappings that link to her new boyfriend Alex, Laurel continues to fend off the unwanted advances of her seemingly delusional ex, Maddix. Trying to clear Alex’s name leads her to a few buried secrets from his past, but her belief in his innocence reveals more about her true feelings than she’s willing to admit.

Wendy Miller illustrates her skill with the quick witted banter between Laurel and her partner Berk, and her obvious skill in delving into the mindset of the kidnapper and Maddix. Ripped Away is the perfect blend of suspense and romance without stealing the spotlight off the other. Although Laurel is a strong and stubborn woman, she is not the typical 'tough as nails' lady cop who refuses help. She is a determined woman but she knows when to rely on Alex and Berk…most of the time.

The mystery unravels nicely, giving big clues as to who the kidnapper is without being obvious, but the motive for it is where the story gets truly interesting. Miller is a storyteller who doesn’t have to rely on far-fetched plots or farcical misunderstandings to make the story flow and she does it beautifully in Ripped Away.
