Cathy Faraday was looking to expand her business so when she saw The Old Star, she figured that luck was on her side. Apparently, she wasn't that lucky when she found the door always unlocked and that the top floor was not part of the lease. When curiosity took over, she decided to look at the top floor to see why it was off limits to her and her business. What she discovers is far from what she expected. Find out what all the mystery is about in The Old Star by Elodie Parkes.

The Old Star is a sweet and enthralling novel. I liked how the story built up to a swelling climax. I actually cried a little towards the last parts of the book, when everything was so uncertain. It was sad yet hopeful. I was going back and forth wondering how the book would end. I had no idea what was going on in the house and with Owen. I tried thinking of possible scenarios that might explain things, but I wasn't right on any accounts.

Nonetheless, I enjoyed how Elodie Parkes developed her plot. The history of the house was fascinating and so were the characters. I adore the main characters, Owen and Cathy. I liked Matt too. Even though he only played a minor role in the story I think he was also important, and it was pleasant that she met Nicole. Overall, this is a good read.
