The DCI Jones Casebook: Ellis Flynn (Volume 2) by Kerry J. Donovan is a very neat and interesting thriller that will grab readers' attention till the very end. Fourteen-year-old Hollie Jardine is abducted on her way back from school one day. The case is given to Detective Chief Inspector David Jones. His case study leads him to some alarming facts like how Hollie was being groomed by a convicted sex offender. The search for the teenage girl takes him to France, which takes his detective skills to another level. Will he be able to find out where Hollie disappeared?

From England to France, the combined teamwork of both the English and French detectives make the book a compelling read. The plot is well executed and fast paced. The interaction between the two police forces of Britain and France, and Jones and Jean Luc is one of the highlights of the book. The villain Flynn's character is so effectively charted out that he stands out in the story with his wickedness and vileness. The descriptive narration makes it visually attractive, allowing readers to create their own images of the people and the scenes.

The interaction with the family of the missing girl and their concern and fear for her safety add to the human element of the theme. The two lawmen, the villains, and the international chase will take readers on an interesting trip. Readers who like police and detective-based themes will enjoy the book.

The DCI Jones Casebook: Ellis Flynn by Kerry J. Donovan is about the events following the abduction of a fourteen-year-old girl and the efforts of Detective Chief Inspector David Jones and his team to rescue her and hopefully return her to her parents alive. In an effort to rescue Hollie, Jones flies to France, racing against time and hoping for the best.

The DCI Jones Casebook: Ellis Flynn is a story about the efforts of a police detective to rescue an innocent girl from the hands of a bunch of dark and twisted criminals. Kerry J. Donovan created very believable and relatable characters; it was very easy for me to understand the emotional chaos Hollie was going through, and it was also very easy to make an emotional connection with Detective Chief Inspector David Jones and feel his genuine passion and dedication as he races against the clock to bring the bad guys down. The mixture of emotions, drama, and action that fills the whole story makes for a thrilling read.

Hollie ran away with Ellis Flynn, thinking that she was in love with him and that they will be spending their lives in a 'happily ever after' dream. But her parents and Detective Chief Inspector Jones believe that she has been kidnapped. Jones’ suspicions are confirmed when his search for Hollie brings him and Detective Constable Alex Olganski to a small town in France where they discover some sinister acts that Ellis Flynn has committed for some time. The local police force is surprised with the severity of the crimes being committed in their serene little town. DCI Jones was reluctant at first to accept help from the gendarmes but he soon learns that they are reliable and trustworthy. With the two countries combining their resources, will they find out who really is behind the crimes in volume two of The DCI Jones Casebook: Ellis Flynn by Kerry J. Donovan?

Kerry J. Donovan will take readers through France and the United Kingdom in a thrilling adventure. It was a captivating and absorbing read, keeping me on the edge of my seat all throughout. I loved how the story developed and the mystery was slowly revealed, with well-placed clues along the way. I especially liked DCI Jones, the main character. He is very organized and still sharp and strong even when he’s almost in his sixties. Jones’ intellect, wit, and his personality were admirable and kept the reading interesting. This is the second book in the series but can be read as a stand-alone.
