Abe is a poor homeless man who has nothing. Yet, when he does have something, he always sees someone who needs it more than he does and gives it away. He's glad he can help others. Then one day a man sees something special in Abe and decides to help him.
Abe's Lucky Day is beautifully illustrated and simply written. The author is a natural storyteller with professional credentials, as well. I highly recommend this book for the gentle compassion and kindness the reader feels on every page. The moral does not overcome the story; it is perfectly balanced. Our children need more books like Abe's Lucky Day to help them develop feelings of gratitude and empathy and to realize that there is always a way one person can help another.
