Beyond the Ivory Tower by Jill Blake is a contemporary romance that pits academia against entrepreneurism. Anna believes in an education's value. She's a math professor (and possible math geek) who believes that learning is the most important task a person can undertake. So when her younger sister plans to drop out of college, Anna is furious. She fully blames Ethan Talbot, the venture capitalist who pays big bucks to steal students away from school. Ethan believes working for yourself is the most important task a person can perform, and wants to help as many people live the American dream as possible. Although Anna and Ethan passionately disagree about education versus economics, there is one thing they have in common, and that is a growing attraction to each other. There is no denying the tension between the two. But when things heat up, how will Anna react? Can she keep her principles and still find love? Or must she sacrifice one for the other?

I loved the idea of a smart, sexy math (geek) educator who felt passionately about learning and education. So I totally dug Anna and thought she kicked butt! Jill Blake created a great, feminine heroine that I admired and wanted to befriend. At the same time, I agreed with a lot of Ethan's thoughts and beliefs, and loved that he wanted to help people make money and better themselves. I thought he was a very admirable character, so I was rooting for him, too! They were such a cute couple!
