Book Review
Reviewed by Anne B. for Readers' Favorite
There are all types of programs that deal with alcohol consumption: AA, Celebrate Recovery, and The Last Call are just a few of them. In Moderate Drinking Made Easy Workbook, Donna Cornett takes a different, yet unique, approach. She offers readers a workbook to help them keep track of their consumption. This book is filled with tips on before, during and after drinking.
The strategy is very different than most would expect. Cornett does not tell readers not to drink. Too often when told they must abstain from something, it becomes what people crave; while if they learn to limit the amount of intake, they do not feel deprived. Cornett encourages readers to examine their history and drinking style and determine if they have a problem. Once they become aware of their drinking style, history and a number of other factors, they can take charge of their consumption rather than allowing alcohol to take charge of their lives.
Donna Cornett offers readers a distinctive method to understanding and controlling their alcohol consumption. Her workbook allows readers to be in control by recording their own thoughts and answers. Each page has blank lines for the readers' thoughts. Her book is well organized. She does not denigrate other forms of help but offers this one as a first, and much needed, step. Cornett goes beyond looking at the alcohol; she helps readers figure out what makes them tick.
