Buck Carlsbad has a gift. It is not necessarily one that many would want, though. This gift allows him to find bad spirits, "marks", and remove them from the havoc they are creating. Orphaned and left with too many questions for one person to contemplate, Buck goes through life trying to find the answers he seeks. What happened exactly to his parents? Each time he is drawn to the black light (the other side), he pulls another piece to his puzzle. It is hard on the man, turning his hair white prematurely. He is drawn to a case that, in his gut, he knows is going to be very bad but yet he cannot walk away without knowing just a little bit more. What he finds is more than he was looking for.

The very beginning of this story is a bit hard to get into. Don't give up! By the second chapter, it all makes sense and you will find yourself tangled in this well spun web of mystery, intrigue and the very depths of talented imaginations. There is quite a bit of profanity which may be negative for some but I am not sure how the story would have flowed without it. The characters are exceptionally rough, raw and courageous. I found myself beside Buck and his cohorts as they battled against forces so powerful it gives chills. The narrator does a fabulous job throughout the book...a very talented actor, indeed!
