“Outside with Lil Boo,” written by Daddy Bookins and illustrated by Dania Piotti, is a great way to encourage outdoor play and exploration with your little one! The story begins with Lil Boo looking out of his bedroom window and he sees so many wonderful things and so many wonderful things to do, so he goes outside to explore the view. Ants, birds, grass, rocks, ducks, and flowers are a few of the things that are discovered and discussed and displayed with beautiful illustrations. Lil Boo spends a day outside exploring so many things and learning so much which is shared with the readers as well.

I am a huge fan of books written in rhyme as the words just flow so nicely for young readers! I love how this book focused on being outdoors and included a large variety of things found outside. With this being such an electronic age, kids are not spending as much time playing outside and I believe it is important for kids to play outside and use their imagination and this book encourages that! Little facts about the various things seen are added into the story encouraging discussion and further explanation of the book. The vocabulary is a little advanced for young children, but this will also encourage further interaction between the child and adult reader. This is the second book of this series that I have read and I am hooked on it as are my children!
