Let’s see a show of hands of how many wives feel that their husbands don’t express themselves or engage in enough conversation. That is most of us, right? Author Tony Hawkins explores this phenomenon in “Married Men Don’t Talk” with the experience of more than 150 married men who had participated in a radio show program to share their personal issues and experiences. As Hawkins says, most men are only comfortable talking issues unrelated to home life such as sports, yard work, or sales at Home Depot. On the radio show, men felt comfortable expressing themselves and sharing with other men their emotional concerns about their marriages and family life. The book transcribes conversations that occurred on the radio show on different topics such as Divorce, Sex vs. Intimacy, Stepping Out Emotionally, Pornography, and more.

The discussions are very real and candid and the men talk about things that they haven’t shared with their wives or best friends. One man talks about how not being able to communicate with his wife and talk about his feelings led him into an affair and ultimately to divorce. They talk about marrying women for sex and overlooking the rest of the woman’s baggage until it jumped up to bite them later on in the relationship.

This book gives women a look into the male brain and what he is thinking, what he wants to say to his wife but can’t, and gives her a clue into what she can to do to make things better without trying to drag words out of her husband.
