Book Review
Reviewed by Alice D. for Readers' Favorite
There are many college football team matches up that are famous like the yearly meet between Yale and Harvard, but none is more famous than the competition between the Crimson Tide of Auburn University and the War Eagles of the University of Alabama. The football rivalry between these two great schools culminates in what has come to be known as The Iron Bowl. Author Bob Callighan, son of noted football broadcaster Robert Callighan, has been attending games between Auburn and Alabama for sixty years. He has devised this marvelous trivia game book for the many Iron Bowl fans who want to have trivia night contests during the off-season or just throw questions at each other over tail-gating parties. With one thousand Auburn/Alabama questions, twenty Iron Bowl puzzles to solve, and an Auburn/Alabama player-hometown match up, Iron Bowl fans of all ages will be demanding copies of this book to read and to keep.
Robert Callighan has written a sports book that fans of the Alabama/Auburn rivalry will want to own. It is well-formatted, well-edited and well-written with black and white photographs of noted coaches and players. Author Callighan is a sports editor himself and his love of college football, especially games between these two great rivals, is a given. There is a problem, however. Other noted college football rivalries may want their own similar editions of college football trivia books. Hopefully, Mr. Callighan has friends in the sports writing business who will not object to creating books similar to "Alabama/Auburn: The Ultimate Iron Bowl Trivia".
