"The Paragon Prison" is Book 3 of the "Grey Griffins: The Clockwork Chronicles". It is full of adventure from the first to the last page and surely, children 8 years and up will be eager to read and to envision themselves as part of the story. In this episode, the Grey Griffins have been transported to a parallel universe. They are duplicates of Grey Griffins who disappeared on an adventure from Earth Beta. The new planet seems to be a paradise and the Griffins must determine to risk their own demise or to remain on the planet where they are secure in the embraces of their families and friends. The decision is made for them is the form of their arch enemy Otto VonStrife who wants to obliterate Earth Alpha, Earth Beta and any other universes which might exist. VonStrife is angry at the loss of his daughter and he uses the various Clockwork mechanisms to try to sabotage any good done by the Grey Griffins. There are threats galore in the form of Juggernauts, Changelings, Drones, Dreadnaughts and undersea monsters.

Benz and Lewis skillfully weave in one adventure after another as they also tend to the emotional needs of their characters. Whether it is Max, Harley, Natalie or Ernie, each reader will adopt a favorite and remain loyal until the last adventure unfolds. I had not read the first two books in the series but was easily able to follow the characters and to cheer for the children to accomplish each and every goal.
