Robert Roy Britt's 5 Days to Landfall is a brilliant story set against the backdrop of a turbulent climate, the advent of a hurricane that can be as devastating as anything the inhabitants of New York City have known in their history. No one but the hurricane forecaster, Amanda Cole, understands the impending danger that threatens the lives of New Yorkers. She knows only she can save New York, but it seems no one believes her and the worst case scenario is happening — a conspiracy to discredit the facts about the impending storm, which can cost many lives. Can Amanda race faster than the hurricane and mobilize people to get ready before it’s too late? A lot is at stake here!

Robert Roy Britt won my heart with his storytelling gift and he knows how to pass on a lot of information without the reader getting bored or slowed down. The historical elements of this novel and the overall setting will appeal to readers across the United States. The writing is fluid, with powerful descriptions, intelligent dialogues, and a very strong narrative voice. Readers will love to follow the exciting characters as the author explores their backgrounds and psychology, building a huge conflict that sweeps through the heart like a storm.

There is a lot of action in the novel and it’s not hard to feel the intensity of the drama. It is difficult to think of 5 Days to Landfall as a work of fiction, especially by those who have experienced hurricanes up close, because the author makes it feel so real. Robert Roy Britt has the gift of mimicking history and of giving life to fiction. This is a very satisfying read, from the start to its conclusion.
