In the first book of this series, Finding Father Christmas, Miranda Carson travels to England in search of answers. She always wanted a place to call home and unconditional love. She finds that perfect love in Jesus Christ. In Engaging Father Christmas Miranda eagerly returns to England. She and Ian are in love and she suspects she will receive and engagement ring for Christmas. Things look bleak when the family matriarch refuses to bless their union.
This is one of the best Christmas series I have ever read. Robin Jones Gunn is a talented author. Last year I reviewed Finding Father Christmas I loved the story. When I saw Engaging Father Christmas, I could hardly wait to delve inside. The cover of this enchanting book is warm and inviting. The plot is Christian romance. The characters are delightful. Fans will be sorry if they miss Engaging Father Christmas. |

Warm and engaging only begin to describe characters Robin Jones Gunn brings to life on the pages of this book. The setting, a cozy corner of England, adds a subtext of tradition to the tale. Engaging Father Christmas is a story of love, redemption, and finding home--perfect for giving to all the readers on your list this year. I give it a high recommendation.

"Engaging Father Christmas was so touching I literally got choked up three different times. The author really knows how to engage a reader's heart. It doesn't hurt that Ian is a dreamy hero. And Miranda is a very loveable heroine. What's not to love about either of them? They are an amazing couple and a joy to read about as you get to know more about them and their desire for love. Ah....
The themes of finding your place in the world, the importance of family, and the far-reaching implications of forgiveness are strong in this story, making it a winner in my book. I really loved this novella and have to say it's by far the most heart-warming Christmas story I've ever read. Bravo!

This Christmas novella is a gem. Written in first-person narrative, this romance novel of love and forgiveness is somewhat predictable but demands a tissue box be nearby. A unexpected parallel is drawn between the story and the nativity. A good Christmas read.
"I believe God, the real Father of Christmas, says to each of us. 'Come in! Know me better.'" Robin Jones Gunn

In this delightful follow-up to Finding Father Christmas, Miranda Carson travels back to Carlton Heath, England to spend the holidays with her new found family and boyfriend Ian. Little does Miranda know that the secret of who her true father is, is about to be made public after such pains being taken to keep it within the family circle. Not only that, but a sudden illness of a dear friend, Ian's Father, lends worry to all, while at the same time bringing out a bit of the true meaning of Christmas.
Can a true reconciliation occur with the head of the Whitcombe family and can Miranda finally find a place to call her own, as well as a family to call her own?
Engaging Father Christmas is a delightful, heartwarming and engrossing novel that shows that through faith, anything is possible. Once again, Ms Gunn displays her wonderful talent of bringing characters to life within a vivid and realistic background. Both Finding Father Christmas and Engaging Father Christmas encompass the true meaning of Christmas and this wonderful time of year where family, faith and Goodwill are the greatest gifts of all.

Engaging Father Christmas is a perfect Christmastime read! This is the second book in the Father Christmas series. The first book is Finding Father Christmas and I found myself wishing I had read it before this one. I didn't feel lost or confused, but I was curious to know more about what had happened in the first book since I enjoyed this one so much.
This was a light, enjoyable and engaging read. It's not a glossy, everything is perfect, kind of story, though. There were plenty of kinks thrown in and more than one heart-tugging moment. This is the kind of book that will lift your spirits and leave you with a smile (and probably a tear in your eye). Can you tell that I thoroughly enjoyed it?
I admit I had my doubts. I thought it might be a cheesy, corny, made-for-TV kind of story but those thoughts quickly dissipated as the characters became real and I found myself engrossed in their lives. This is a book that I will want to revisit every Christmas.
Now, go grab a cup of cocoa (or tea since this is set in the UK!), curl up with a blanket by the fire and let yourself be swept away by Miranda and Ian. You will be blessed!

Miranda Carson returns to England and her newly found family and boyfriend. However, the happy Christmas reunion she expected does not unfold as she anticipated. Illness and family secrets threaten Miranda's new life. As she hopes for her dreams to come true, Miranda and others learn about love and acceptance and what it means to be a family. The Whitcombe and MacGregor families are just as charming here. We also get better acquainted, especially with Ian, Julia and Mark.
Like the first book, this one is light and somewhat predictable. It's also delightful. Perfect for curling up by a fire with a cup of cocoa. Sweetly charming.
