Homer is a blind cat. Not only is he blind but he has no eyes whatsoever. He is taken in by a typical "cat lover" who already owns two cats. Gwen is very apprehensive about caring for a blind cat but cannot stand the thought of him being put to sleep. She knows he can never be allowed outside of their living quarters due to the fact that he cannot see danger and would never find his way back home. It is always in the back of her mind that Homer would somehow get away and be lost forever.
The book takes us thru Homer's adoption and the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks which leave Homer and the other two cats stranded in their New York apt. for several days. Gwen's determination to get to her cats shows just how much she cares for them. Homer's dedication is proven to Gwen when someone breaks into her apt. during the night and Homer comes to the rescue. This is one brave, blind little cat.
You will be amazed at how Homer overcomes his blindness with a keen sense of hearing and feeling. He does things the other two cats just dream about.
This book is a must for all animal lovers and will keep you wanting to read about what Homer is capable of doing next.
