Geoffrey Hoffman shares his talent for poetry in Steps into Poetry. There is an adorable cat on the front cover of this book. I suspect Hoffman likes cats, for there was several poems referring to them. He divides his poetry into appropriate age groups. The first section is “Poetry For The Youngest,” It reminded me of nursery rhymes. The section titled “Growing Up” contains “Kitten” and adorable poem about an adorable kitten in the snow.
I like this book. The poems are whimsical. They will appeal to children and parents. As the child matures, so do the poems. This book would be more appealing and marketable if it was in a hardback rather than paper back and if it was illustrated. This book needs to be something children will want to pick up. Most children will not pick up a paperback book. Mr. Hoffman, you are very talented.
