Book Review Ms. Deangelis offers a guide to understanding not only the mystical interpretation of life, but attempts to explain normal and ultimate reality. She has set herself an impressive goal. Many of the clearest thinkers in history have attempted this.
At first, I thought she was building to explain reincarnation and in the way a Jainist might interpret it. (Jainism regards every living soul as potentially divine.) Her Ultimate Reality reflects her generosity of thought and spirit so that all particles, all entities, share alike in the essence of God. So, I then thought she was a pantheist. ( Pantheism is the view that everything is part of an all-encompassing immanent God and that the Universe -Nature - and God are equivalent.) Beware of jumping to conclusions?
Since I have been exploring metaphysics since I was nineteen, I had to drag myself through her initial chapters as she laid the groundwork for her beliefs. I no longer believe most of what she propounds and so it was difficult, but I admit that she has done a more than competent job of giving anyone searching for answers a comprehensive structure to use to help in a search for meaning.
As a reviewer I would give her FIVE Stars because she did fulfill what she promised to do in the beginning. Her explanations of the limitations of any religious dogma (any religion) and of science (objectivity is only partially possible too) I agree with. However, the same kinds of limitations apply to her belief system. To me too much dependeds on her subjective experiences and interpretations of the divine or Ultimate Reality. As a teacher of meditation I have had mind-blowing experiences that I then interpreted as meeting with the Divine, but then I had others that scared me so badly I stopped meditating. The "realness" of these experiences had a positive effect on my life.
There are many who would benefit from this book, mainly because the author's essential goodness shines through and is more important and could be a guide to anyone searching for ways to live a worthwhile life. |
