Book Review
This is the story of John Cotard. John was a science teacher. He was happily married. One day he was hit by a car and his world changed. He came awake in a hospital with his “wife on one side and pain killers on the other.” There is no doubt he needed pain killers for his injuries, but soon he was doubling his dosage and then doubling that. His doctor, wisely, would only give him a month’s prescription at time, leaving John to search the streets for a supplier. A man named Janet became his personal supplier. Janet enjoyed power. He enjoyed bullying and pushing John to his limits. Soon he had hooked John on hard stuff. A catastrophe sweeps the land leaving most dead. A few survivors are changed into something less than human. John travels on, searching for drugs, joining a few survivors in a trip across the country.
This book certainly has a unique plot. A family man turned drug addict turned zombie hunter. The first part of this book focused on John’s growing dependency on drugs. I felt as though this section could have been based on true events. Then we get to the zombies. I found this part of the book less appealing. However, the author is talented and has a vivid imagination.
