Book Review This book could be a gem to delight youngsters of many ages. In its present form, it shows the promise of personal experience which could be valuable to childrens learning about times past. Some of the poetry is spot on, and it should delight the reader. However, the poetry is sometimes difficult for a child to comprehend as there are "stretches of the imagination" in order to make the poetry rhyme.
The book just might be more effective if written primarily in prose. One has the feeling that the author has wonderful tales to tell, and yet the tales are oftentimes nearly lost by attempts to put them to poetry. When the stories are actually put into prose, they come off as strong and worthy of being remembered.
In a story-telling format, this book could delight children with tales of little brothers, fairylands with butterflies-like creatures, personal disclosures about not being able to sing, and multiple stories with potentially delightful moral endings.
