Book Review Running With No Feet by Jemmie Adams is the first installment in a new series, C2. This book has a fast paced, high action plot sure to keep readers eagerly turning pages. I want to be careful not to give away too much of the plot. I dislike it when I read a review and the reviewer has offered so much information that I don’t need to read the book.
Steve Birdoff has vacation plans but V.D. one of the elite members of C2 has other plans for him. Many readers will have heard of the Skulls and Bones a Secret Society, rumored to not only support New World Order but plan to control the world through the New World Order. C2 makes Skulls and Bones look like a bunch of Girl Scouts. C2 has several tiers of membership. V.D. is one of the top members. He is ruthless, evil and a sociopath. Steve is a computer programmer. V.D. has evidence that someone hacked into his computer and stole some very important information. He is determined to retrieve the info no matter the cost. He sends Steve, the creator of the security program, along with a few members of his Delete Team to find the perpetrator and the info. On the way to Maryland, Mike the helicopter pilot warned Steve that he was dealing with evil. Only a few hours later Steve discovered just how coldblooded V.D. could be.
I was hooked from the first page of this novel. Jemmie Adams is a new name to me. I believe this is a first novel. Any author that can produce a tale this good early in their career will go far. I do suggest the author hire a professional editor. I noticed the misuse of quotation marks in a few places. The plot was not what I would call realistic. Who cares! I read for entertainment and this book entertained me. I can’t point out the unrealistic parts without giving away parts of the plot. But again Who Cares! The characters were well developed. Steve was multifaceted, at first I thought he was a little blasé, soon I saw a frightened man, a caring man and a determined man. His choices were not always wise. Mike was an unknown factor. At first I was not sure whose side he was on. Sean and Marlena are both intelligent, but could use a bit more fleshing out. MoreStrick was a larger than life character. The bad guys: V.D., Victor Diamond—pure evil, Seiy--appears to be evil and yet I’m not sure what will happen to this character, Savanna--again appears to be evil but I suspect something is about to happen to change that.
Not only does this book have high action, it has twists, lots of twists, with the biggest at the end. As I came close to the end of the book, I kept thinking there is no way the author can end this book in such few pages as I had left to read. I should have realized. The author left us hanging at the end. Now I know I have to read the next book in this series. Jemmie Adams, hurry! |
