I can not begin to tell you what this book has done for my life. I bought this the day after I heard about it and read it in 5 hours! These two people are the most genuine and loving people and describe the issues of many of us perfectly. I e-mailed her with questions and she responded within the hour. They are truly amazing and this book, as well as their relationship, will change your life. If you don't have it, buy it. It will be the book that changes you.

Second chances - we all need second chances as none of us are perfect. I Do Again is an emotionally transparent love story that glorifies God and His power which is beyond our understanding.
I was struck over and over by the honesty Cheryl and Jeff Scruggs reveal in their story. They're real, their story is real and I'm so thankful they chose to share it.
This book is valuable for those who are still married, those who are no longer married, and those who long to be married. Marriage is an ongoing work. As they close the book the Scruggs encourage us all to place our trust in God, to hang in there and not give up.
Thanks for the encouragement, Jeff and Cheryl! Your book provides hope, your honest story of second chances is powerful and does give glory to God.

Cheryl & Jeff Scruggs share their story of marital restoration following an affair in their book, I Do Again. Cheryl and Jeff seemed to have the perfect marriage; "Ken and Barbie" is how they were described by friends. But their marriage was superficial and for a lot of complex emotional reasons, Cheryl had an affair. After ten years of marriage, they got divorced. Then they each became Christians and Cheryl became convinced the Lord told her to pursue reconciliation. Jeff did not hear the same message until years later, and seven years after their divorce, they remarried much to the delight of their twin daughters.
I Do Again is, of course, a book about building a God-centered marriage and the restoration, healing and forgiveness that can only be possible with God's supernatural power. But it is so much more than a book about marriage. It is a book about spiritual maturity - both Cheryl and Jeff needed to develop into mature Christ followers before they could even consider being the type of spouses God intended them to be. It is a book about how we truly become new creations - completely new people - when we build a relationship with Jesus. . . and it is a book about how this transformation is not magical, easy, or something that happens overnight. Such transformation only occurs through the diligent pursuit of a daily relationship with the Master, learning and re-learning God's lessons, and obedience to His will, not our own.
Finally, I Do Again is a book about pursuing the promises of God, even when you are weary, even when you have no worldly confirmation, even when you have no evidence God is working; in fact, sometimes we have evidence that seems contrary to what God has promised. Cheryl Scruggs' perseverance (with falls, missteps, and sometimes backwards progress) for SEVEN YEARS really spoke to me. It encouraged me to keep waiting for God to be God and do what He promised, in His way and on His timetable in my own life.

"I Do Again" is a touching and gripping look at a marital relationship that was abandoned and how this real-life couple reignited the home fires and recommitted their lives to each other with Christ at the center where He belongs. What a wonderful testimony to struggling couples that may want to walk away from a marriage in this age in which we live that is dedicated to quick fixes and instant gratification. Cheryl and Jeff Scruggs offer a frank view of their own relationship to show others that marriage is work and the effort is worth it! They are also very careful to place Jesus Christ at the center of the marriage. This is of the utmost importance, and more couples should invite the Lord to be part of their marriage relationship.

It is as if God Himself, breathe the words of encouragement through the pages of this book. The story of Jeff and Cheryl Scruggs will minister to any broken marriage no matter how bad it may seem. As I read their story, it was if I was reading my own. For those in a troubled marriage that seems beyond repair, I highly recommend this book. I found it to be very forward, hope filled, and inspirational. It gives marriage advice and counseling from a Biblical standpoint and challenges the reader to do that which is very difficult for must of us and this is self examination.

This book is AMAZING! I heard about this book on a Christian show and had to buy it, because this is EXACTLY what happened in my life!
I had an affair and left my husband. We got a divorce and after that, I found the Lord and ended the affair. Shortly after our divorce, God CLEARLY told me it was His will that my ex-husband and I get back together. "Ya, right!" I said. There was NO WAY my ex wanted anything to do with that idea. He hadn't found God at this point, but I continued to tell him, "I know it's God's will to bring our family back together."
Week after week, I would come home from church, call my ex-husband, and ask him to come over. God would put on my heart LOTS of things I needed to ask forgiveness for. Sometimes, he would be attentive, other times, he would be very standoff-ish and distant. I would ALWAYS follow-up with telling him that although I didn't see it happening, I felt it was God's will for us to reunite our family.
I became very discouraged off and on. I was very impatient at times and frustrated about the situation. God kept telling me to be patient, but it was so difficult! I said, "God, if this is Your will, please be BOLD and show me this is from You."
2 years went by and after 100s of prayers, 100s of talks with God and trusting in the Lord, my ex-husband approached me on a rainy Sunday and said, "I'm ready. I'm ready to get remarried and recommit to each other and our children! God has been speaking to me for the last few months and I can't ignore Him anymore. I still love you and have always loved you!"
Talk about being BOLD!!! God is soooo good! He CAN make miracles happen. This book is a perfect testimony to that, and so is my story. My ex-husband and I remarried a year ago and couldn't be more in love. Our children couldn't be more happy to have both of their parents in the same home. The difference, between this marriage and our first marriage is GOD. He HAS to be the center of your marriage. Seek Him, ask Him for help and guidance, and He will be there for you.
Amen!

Great!!! This isn't just a story about marriage and divorce. It's a story about how the love of God transforms hearts. It's a story about God's strength and love in a surrendered life. I read it straight through. I have been married for 33 years to my high school sweetheart. Even my marriage is strengthen by the truths in this book. I will be recommending it to all the women I counsel. Thank you Scruggs for sharing the story of your love for each other and for your God!

I Do Again is an engaging and thought provoking book about God's plan for marriage and His design for couples to deepen their walk both together and individually. As a Christian wife and mother, I know my relationship with Jesus must be first for me to give my husband and kids my very best. This book brings to the forefront the message of total and complete surrender. Jeff and Cheryl are completely transparent telling their story humbly and without excuse. I highly recommend this book. Many will be encouraged and uplifted by their testimony of restoration. Loved this book!
