I know Why The Tattered, Torn, and Bruised Are Beautiful is an amazing true story brilliantly written by Angie Cathro. In this book, Angie shares her life’s journey including battling depression, having feelings of hopelessness, worthlessness, insecurities, being alone and feeling suicidal. Only at the bottom does she realize that she does have reasons to be alive, finding hope and realizing that God has always been there for her. And with Faith and God in her life, she finds her miracle that turned her life around.

Angie was brought into this world amidst chaos; a drug ring, prostitution by her mother, and a world not meant for any child. After the drug ring was broken up, Angie and her three older siblings were sent to foster homes. At six weeks of age, Angie’s English foster parents already knew they would love her as their own and wanted to keep her forever. Angie thrived in her loving home with her new family and was very happy there. Then her whole world turned upside down when she was in grade school. Angie received a call from her biological mother who lived in America. That is when Angie started failing her classes and began a downward spiral into depression. She meets her biological mother, Anna and her siblings one day and they begin to communicate, but it takes its toll on Angie. When Angie was 10 years old, her mother brought them to court to try to fight for custody of her. Amidst all of this trouble, Angie was also being harassed at school. As a teenager Angie finds God in her life and knows he holds something special for her, but at the same time she also starts her first journey of knowing her birth mother and her biological siblings. Through verbal abuse, harassment, sending her into suicidal thoughts and eventually to a psychiatric hospital; Angie is sent down to the depths of hell and back. And when the reader thinks that things are finally better for Angie, she goes through even a rougher period in her twenties dealing with abuse, drugs and being a strip club dancer. Though she is strong and is able to prevail and triumphs at the end, this true novel is a tearjerker. Angie realizes she had stepped away from God so many times, but he had always stayed faithful to her.

I could not put this book down and really felt a special connection and compassion for the Author. Even after finishing this book, I couldn’t stop thinking about it and what an inspiration Angie is to us all. Through her life’s journey and bravery, Angie has shared a rare book with us readers that will stick with us through our lifetime. This book truly encourages women in all walks of life and reminds us that we are not alone. There is hope no matter what you look like, where you come from, or what you’ve been though in life. God certainly can and will turn anyone’s life around and Angie is a true testament to that. It is not only an amazing Christian book, but it also is a book that every teenage girl and woman should read!

I have read it 3 times, each time pulling something from the book I could relate to and I know that if God could help Angie over-come her obsticles then I know that my God can give me the strength n courage to help me over-come my opsticles. Angie's book inspired me to not give up as long as God was on my side. Angie showed great strength n I admire her courage. I love this book!
