Book Review
Reviewed by Lori M for Readers Favorite

Charles E. Cox, Jr. presents his nine key principles of a prosperous life, but by prosperous he doesn’t mean wealthy, he means abundantly satisfied. The author feels that his nine principles provide a blueprint for your life’s success. His nine key principles are Vision/Mission, Sustainable Growth and Education, Financial Literacy and Stability, Health & Wellness, Stress, Pressure & Change, Stewardship/Philanthropy, Vacations, Marriage, and Personal Image/Reputation. The author has combined some tenets of religion along with some best practices of business to create his take on the key principles to a successful and happy life. At the end of the book, he also provides a glossary of terms. He concludes the book by introducing one of his goals to create a mass movement called Knowledge-Wealth-Prosperity.

Those, like me, who have read a lot of business books, will recognize much of this material as basic good principles of business, such as having a vision and creating a mission statement against which to measure your progress and establish your goals. Cox provides some business case studies along with some personal stories to support his principles and illustrate his concepts. The book contains some cartoon clip art illustrations as well as some call-outs containing inspirational and/or famous quotes. I enjoyed the one by hip-hop artist, Jay Z, “I’m not a businessman; I’m a business, man.” This helps portray the author’s point about treating your life like a business and following those principles for success will bring success to your life. He also includes illustrative charts to compare corporate principles to personal principles.
