Book Review
Author Richard Guy offers an interesting hypothesis. He explains that ancient civilizations were always built close to the seas. However, we know that the earliest civilizations were built on mountain tops. His reasoning suggests that the mountain peaks were the only land sticking up out of the waters. Hence the two statements do not contradict each other. As Earth slowly expanded more and more land was exposed and man slowly migrated down the mountain following the receding seas.
One of the first things I noticed about The Mysterious Receding Seas was the writing style. Richard Guy makes this topic simple and easy to understand. Guy brings his vast experience and knowledge to this topic. He suggests that the recession of the seas is slow and subtle; the recession has been taking place over millions of years.
I have read three books by this author on this topic. It each book he farther expands his theory. The research is well done. While not everyone will easily accept this theory I find it interesting and very possible. Whether you agree or disagree with his hypostasis, you will find his vast knowledge of history fascinating. After reading this book, I was so engrossed that I went to YouTube and watched the videos on this topic. I recommend everyone read this book.
