Author Biography

Claire Croxton combines soul-searching prose with snarky eloquence to create memorable tales of love and romance such as Santorini Sunset and Redneck Ex.

After spending over a decade as a technical writer in Northern Alaska, Claire Croxton chucked aside her mukluks, loaded up her cats and relocated to a farm in Japton, Arkansas to pursue a career in writing fiction.

She had no idea there were places more remote than tiny, Iñupiaq villages with no road access, yet she managed to find one. The woods of Madison County are inspirational and she has written several short stories that have been published in anthologies. Her novels are filled with unique characters-strong,bold women and knock-your-bloomers-off hot men. Sure they're flawed, but who cares? Have you seen their abs?

Somehow along the way, this cat lady acquired dogs, ducks and too many chickens to count. She lives with her extremely tolerant husband and not so understanding cats. When she's not writing, she's gardening, baking or thinking about making another quilt.

She serves on the board of directors for the Ozark Writers' League and is the President of the Oklahoma Writers' Federation, Inc.

Claire Croxton's novel, "Santorini Sunset," is a story similar to the movie "The Wedding Date" and yet so much more! Caroline is a beautiful, intelligent woman; however, she does not believe others see her like that as she is constantly criticized by her mother. And her sister is a model who Caroline’s fiancé falls in love with. Caroline, not wanting to attend her sister and ex-fiancé’s wedding alone, tells her mother she is dating Raul, a handsome co-worker. However, Caroline has barely spoken with Raul until suddenly her mother shows up to take the couple to lunch. Instead of being against the idea, Raul throws himself whole-hardheartedly into the scheme. Raul has been trying to get assigned to Caroline's team for years at work and this may be his chance to be paired with Caroline in more than one way.

This is the first book I have read by Croxton and it will not be my last! Her style of writing is so easy to read as the story flows well, the writing is so descriptive, and the characters are so real and lovable. The story changes between Caroline and Raul's perspectives and I love that as I felt as though I got to know each of them so well. Coming from such a different family than Raul's, Caroline immediately loves the Sobrevilla family and she is herself in this setting, causing Raul to fall even more in love with her. The dynamics of the various relationships in the book are realistic and the reader will be able to relate to the characters because of this. Caroline's low self-esteem stems from her relationship with her mother and her sister and this makes her oblivious to how others, especially men, see her. The minor characters including Maude and Jessica are great additions to the story and play important roles in the story and the romance between Caroline and Raul also plays a key role. This is an excellent story to kick back, relax and lose yourself in as you will be rooting for Caroline and Raul, despising Albert, and loving every moment of the story!

This is a funny, sexy book. It is full of twists and turns! Caroline, who is lovely and who has a voluptuous figure, thinks she is a wallflower because of her insecurities and lack of confidence. The main reason for this is that her mother constantly harps at her and makes comments that put Caroline down. Caroline has been requested to be her sister's maid of honor at the wedding in Greece. By the way, the sister is getting married to Caroline's ex-fiance who cheated on Caroline. Caroline does not want to attend and appears like an old maid, recruiting Raul who works with her to pose as a boyfriend. She doesn't know this Adonis has already fallen for her! Caroline thinks he is going with her out of a sense of duty. She talks herself into rebuking him because of her insecurities. Voluptuous Caroline and Adonis Raul are on a beautiful Greek island and nothing is going right for any romance. The plans of her sister's wedding go awry and the whole wedding is a comedy of errors, one crazy happening after another. Mother assigns everything that needs done to Caroline and then complains about it. Caroline doesn't want to say what she thinks because there would be a meltdown and she has seen that before. Sister is a real little snit and you find yourself wanting to slap her. Ex-fiance tries to put the make on Caroline!

This is a very funny and a very sexy book. It's a story of love gone wrong because Caroline suffers such a lack of self confidence she can't believe Raul could possible be in love with her. This is a book about a wedding in a most beautiful part of the world, an island in Greece but it turns into a complete fiasco. Whatever could go wrong, does. It is a comedy of errors and you will not want to put the book down.

"Santorini Sunset" by Claire Croxton is character-driven and I’d like to begin this review by introducing some of the characters: Caroline is the sister to the bride and former fiancé’ to the groom. Caroline is more than a bit round. Raul Sobrevilla is handsome, sexy, and in love with Caroline. Raul is Caroline’s date to the wedding. Maude is Caroline’s secretary. Gabriella is sister to Caroline and the bride to her sister’s ex fiancé. Albert is the former fiancé to Caroline and currently the groom to Gabriella. Basically he is dishonest.

Caroline was engaged to Albert until her sister Gabrielle’s slim legs caught his attention. When the wedding invitation arrived Caroline asked Raul to go with her. She did not want to attend this wedding alone and after all Raul was the most handsome man she’d ever met. Raul saw this as a grand opportunity to court Caroline. He knew he was the man she needed. Their appearance at the wedding had a startling effect on the bride and groom. It made them both extremely jealous. Albert proclaimed his undying love for Caroline and declared a well-turned ankle had seduced him and caused him to stray.

I absolutely love this book. Claire Croxton has created a winner! As I stated earlier this book is character-driven. The plot is well done and the characters are dynamic. I cared about them, I laughed with them, I cried with them and got angry with them. This book is filled with humor and romance. It has been a long time since I have read a book of this genre that truly pleased me. I wasn’t familiar with the name Claire Croxton; now that I am, I will be watching for more books by her.

Well-deserved. Claire's writing is like her telling stories and secrets only to you.
