"Annabella's Bully", written and illustrated by Wendy Taylor, is a story about a little girl being bullied and how she learns to deal with him. Annabella did not want to be at pre-school, but she found some toys to play with and was happier. Then a little boy named Joey began to bully Annabella and Annabella ended up in the time-out chair for how she responded to him. After this happens a few times, Annabella sees how other children respond to Joey and they do not get sent to the time-out chair, so Annabella decides to try this and by the end of the day she and Joey are friends and they do not want to leave.

This is a great book to address bullying and basic social skills with young children. Children learn how to get along with their peers early on, whether appropriately or not, and they need guidance to practice socially appropriate behaviors and actions. This book does just that as it teaches that nothing good comes from bullying and not being nice, while reaching out to a peer and being nice will have better results. The illustrations are adorable and Annabella's various facial expressions and body language in the illustrations add a lot to the story. Children can be asked how they think Annabella is feeling based upon the illustrations and why they think this book is a great tool for identifying and being aware of emotions and how specific emotions make someone feel and act.
