Author Biography

Gabriel Farago is the international, bestselling and multi-award-winning Australian author of the Jack Rogan mysteries and thrillers series for the thinking reader.

As a lawyer with a passion for history and archaeology, Gabriel had to wait for many years before being able to pursue another passion—writing—in earnest. However, his love of books and storytelling started long before that.

‘I remember as a young boy reading biographies and history books with a torch under the bed covers,’ he recalls, ‘and then writing stories about archaeologists and explorers the next day, instead of doing homework. Whilst I regularly got into trouble for this, I believe we can only do well in our endeavours if we are passionate about the things we love; for me, writing has become a passion.’

Born in Budapest, Gabriel grew up in post-War Europe, and after fleeing Hungary with his parents during the Revolution in 56, he went to school in Austria before arriving in Australia as a teenager. This allowed him to become multi-lingual and feel ‘at home’ in different countries and diverse cultures. Shaped by a long legal career and experiences spanning several decades and continents, his is a mature voice that speaks in many tongues.

Gabriel holds degrees in literature and law, speaks several languages and takes research and authenticity very seriously. Inquisitive by nature, he studied Egyptology and learned to read the hieroglyphs. He travels extensively and visits all of the locations mentioned in his books.

Professor K: The Final Quest by Gabriel Farago is a stand-alone thriller and part of the Jack Rogan Mysteries Series. Dr. Alexandra Delacroix, Nobel Laureate, wants to continue the work on genome-editing pursued by the late Professor Kozakievicz. She has a God-given opportunity when the Vatican requests her help to save the Pope who is dying of an auto-immune disease. It is imperative that he remains alive to enable the conclusion of a crucial peace process. However, the secret to unlocking his disease is hidden away deep in time. The story transports us back in history to the Ottoman Empire and the work of another physician who is inextricably linked to the modern-day da Baggio family. Lorenza da Baggio wins Top Chef Europe, but she barely has time to celebrate her success before she is kidnapped and drawn into a sinister game played by the mafia.

Gabriel Farago writes effortlessly to present an absorbing and intriguing modern-day thriller steeped in the rich history of Italy. I was impressed with the many complex threads which were expertly interwoven and brought together to form a very satisfying finale to the book. I loved the wonderful descriptions of Venice, including the art and the buildings, all of which lent a real depth to the storyline. The dialogue was expertly written and spoken by a dazzling array of very charismatic characters including the rather unpredictable and dangerous Jack Rogan. Professor K: The Final Quest is a literary delight brimfull of culture, politics, terrorism, the mafia, and medicine. I can't fault it. Superb!

Gabriel Farago has written a fabulous book. It starts out in ancient times when a whole family is "supposed" to be wiped out to protect the ruler. However 1 child escapes and the book literally escalates from there with Jack Rogan being asked to set things right by a priest friend. A stolen painting during the great War turns into the past mixing with the future. Food and medical science, terrorism and front line medical care create a spell binding thriller that is tough to put down.

Jack Rogan makes a return in this book, as does his girlfriend the brilliant scientist named Alexandra Delacroix, Isis, Tristan and the rest of the gang. Profess K makes cameo appearances in spirit, if not in actuality. There are also some new key figures introduced.

This book has it all: top chefs, Mafioso, assassinations, kidnappings and a very sick Pope.

This is a high action, high adventure thriller. Jack is at his best ferreting out clues and following the trail. An exciting chase through several countries keeps the reader enthralled. There are plenty of subplots and tangents all over the place, which makes the reading more exciting and interesting.

The thing I love about Gabriel Farago’s novels is that the reader gets an in-depth lesson in history, and in this book, also in science. The portion of the story of the Turkish influence was very interesting as were all the little tidbits inserted throughout the book. Very good!

I want to thank Gabriel Farago for forwarding to me a copy of this absolutely great book for me to read, enjoy and review.
