Author Biography

Kristen Clark is an author, speaker, and photographer with a passion for capturing the beauty of Creation and celebrating a real Metamorphosis. She is the creator of AllThingsButterflies.com, designed to foster the education and interest of butterflies, and she regularly embraces her love of poetry and literature. Naturally, the intersection of these interests inspired the idea of blending the brilliance and whimsy of classic poetry with the magic and mystery of nature’s winged-lovelies by compiling and editing a book of 30 Classic and Vintage Poems About Butterflies.

30 Classic and Vintage Poems About Butterflies by Kristen Clark is an inspiring book on an ethereal topic - the beauty and unique nature of butterflies. As the author noted in her introduction, “A world without butterflies would be a word without poetry.” The anthology of poems is drawn from a range of American, British, and French canons of literature and are exhilarating - especially for readers who appreciate classic poetry. Many of the poems have the power and energy to transport the readers to a world of natural beauty and wonder. Readers who are fond of sonnets and the work of such literary luminaries as Emily Dickinson, D.H. Lawrence, Victor Hugo, and others will be riveted by this collection. The poems are often enhanced by epigraphs related to the topic of butterflies. The anthology is beautifully illustrated with colorful photo images of a variety of butterfly species, and also a couple of original vintage illustrations that were companions to poems when they were originally published. These illustrations provide a wonderful touch and keep in mind the visual need readers have in connecting the poems to the images.

Kristen Clark interacts well with readers by offering her own analysis of a favorite poem. It’s a special treat to read the author’s commentary. Clark also elaborates on her favorite butterfly species, adding well-detailed information and stunning photographs. Clark’s mission in producing the anthology proves to be meritorious in that it raises awareness about butterflies as an endangered species.
