A Tale of Three Cities is a romantic suspense novel written by Alexander McCabe. Scottish bank clerk, Melissa Chisholm, was waiting in her dentist’s office when she noticed an article about a reward being posted in connection with the kidnapping disappearance of an American lawyer’s wife. Kristy Bradley had gone missing after her husband had gone after a prominent mafia boss and had won a huge class action settlement against him. Michael Bradley had complied with the ransom demand, but his wife was never seen again. The mafia boss, Anthony Di Silva, was subsequently sent to prison for her kidnapping. Melissa had been pondering how her life could change with that million dollars when she was stunned by the missing woman’s photograph. Melissa knew that woman, and she could reunite her with her husband and get the ransom at the same time. Before she knew it, Melissa was off on her mission aboard a plane bound for New York City and an appointment with the bereaved husband.

Alexander McCabe’s romantic suspense novel, A Tale of Three Cities, is an exciting and fast-paced thriller that keeps the reader on his/her toes throughout the action. This story is alternately told by Melissa, the clerk, and Z, the boyfriend of a Scottish heiress, who has just gotten around to telling the love of his life that he actually loves her. McCabe’s story travels the globe with unerring grace and accuracy, including some entertaining glimpses through airplane windows, and a cameo by a marvelous pilot and airplane company owner who just happens to be named after Amelia Earhart. McCabe’s plot runs the gamut of genres as the reader encounters gangsters, judges with hearts of gold, a deranged sadist and a champion of true love -- in fact, there are quite a few champions of true love in this witty and ultimately endearing tale, and they are a joy to behold. A Tale of Three Cities is highly recommended.
