In the fantasy world of the Naturean Reach, young red-haired green-eyed Zee saves herself, her baby sister Rose and Thoran, another baby, from the ogres with the help of elderly dragon-elf Dagon. Another youngster, Angus Grimsdyke, is not so nice and dreams of killing as it makes his head ache less. Even as a boy, he kills friendly people who try to befriend him. The years pass and Rose and Thoran marry and Rose gives birth to seven healthy boys, Ayell, Alvis, Yawnel, Joyal, Shyel, Grumel and Achoo. The boys' special laughter woke something deep and evil. Thoran takes his sons on walks and tells them that the people of the Reach were taken as slaves for ogres and other evil kinds as the ogres tried to conquer all. Dagon has given the boys a goblet that is etched with a crescent moon. One of the goblet's powers is to heal.

"Before the Poisoned Apple" by L S Dubbleyew (Larry Weiner) tells of the seven dwarves' lives before Snow White enters their kingdom. It is a well-written and deep fantasy that will take the reader into a mythical kingdom under attack by evil forces. The characters are well-suited for the storyline. "Before the Poisoned Apple" is the first in the author's 'Brave Tales of Seven Little Men' and fantasy readers will love the intricate tale it spins.
