Paul Turner was raised in an Independent Fundamental Baptist home. Apparently, the denomination is strongly against Christian music. This puzzles me; I’d prefer that my children listen to Christian music rather than secular. However, I imagine they are against that too. I grew up listening to Amy Grant. I’ve even sung her songs as a solo, unfortunately, I don`t have her wonderful voice.

Turner became a Christian music editor, but found disappointment in the Christian music world. Like all of us, Christian artists are human, they make mistakes, they sin. Turner has seen a side of the industry that few fans will ever witness. He encourages artists to stick to their faith. This book covers other aspects of “art.” Film, acting, fashion, etc. are all touched on here.

Turner is a veteran author. I`ve read and reviewed his book "Churched." His style is humorous and entertaining. He is careful not to damage the reputations of any of the artists he mentions. This book is well written, and very descriptive. I’m not sure what message Turner is attempting to convey. I vaguely see an anti-IFB message. I also see a warning to readers not to place artists on a pedestal.
