Sinner’s Descent into the Depths of the Unreal by T. B. Johnson opens with Rosie boarding a train to Hawkins School. When Rosie steps out of the train car, a girl her own age passes her and instantly captures Rosie’s attention. Later, in philosophy class, Rosie learns that the girl’s name is Thomasin Sinclair, after she confidently corrects the professor on an error. Rosie’s admiration for Thomasin deepens when she hears that Thomasin stood up to a groundskeeper in a confrontation, something Rosie herself could never do. Determined to hide her own insecurities, Rosie begins lashing out at others, trying to suppress any sign of weakness. Rosie’s growing obsession with Thomasin soon consumes her, sending her life into a downward spiral of envy, confusion, and self-destruction.
Sinner’s Descent into the Depths of the Unreal by T. B. Johnson is a complex and captivating story. It is a true roller coaster of mystery, fear, obsession, and attitude. The fast-paced plot bursts with action from the very beginning and never slows down. Multiple storylines are skillfully interwoven, creating a web of suspense and surprise. With every twist and turn, I was constantly caught off guard by what happened next. The engaging writing style drew me completely into Rosie’s world, making me feel as though I was living her journey alongside her. The characters felt authentic and relatable, each adding depth to the story. Rosie was my favorite; she never tried to be anyone but herself, even as her personality evolved dramatically throughout the plot. The story is beautifully written and full of unexpected events. The ending, in particular, was stunning, and I truly never saw it coming.
