Author Biography

nternationally recognized hand knitwear designer Marina Molo has taught and lectured on various aspects of hand knitting over the past 30 years.

Marina Molo learned to knit at the age of eight and was self-taught for many years, driven by her teenage enthusiasm for knitting colorful, stylish, and trendy clothing. She finds inspiration in nature's colors and combinations, and her knitting designs reflect her pleasure in combining fibers, textures, gauges, and colors in ways that create fun, yet always wearable, knits. Marina believes that when knitters understand the 'how' and the 'why' of techniques, it allows them to make choices in their own project.

She is based in sunny south Florida. If it weren't for bouts of insomnia, Marina would never find time to knit or use up her abundance of creative energy, or was it the other way around?

Molo is also the owner of MarinaMolo.com located in South Florida where she designs an exclusive line of custom knitwear which you will find at her zazzle store online at https://www.zazzle.com/store/shades

Marina Molo's 50 Shades of Stitches is a well-crafted guide for a wide variety of knitting patterns and techniques. It absolutely accomplishes its goal with an array of patterns ranging in style and complexity that anyone can benefit from. Author Marina Molo has provided pictures as a reference to compare your stitching with that of the professional. A photo index at the beginning of the book eliminates the need to scroll through pages looking for the specific pattern you want. Molo’s 50 Stages of Stitches contains unique and beautiful patterns to use for creating your knitwear, which undoubtedly is the result of the author’s extensive experience in teaching hand knitting.

I began 50 Shades of Stitches with my intention being only reading; however, the interesting patterns made me want to try them out and even share them with family and friends. Marina Molo’s skills and experience in teaching knitting becomes evident immediately; she has delivered a quality product in 50 Shades of Stitches that anyone interested in knitting will benefit from. Though I personally would have liked to see a few more images and illustrations, the ones that are provided are quality and a good determining factor to show if you are doing the technique correctly. Whether for hats or scarves, sweaters or more, 50 Shades of Stitches will be an excellent guide for unique and quality patterns. Seeing as this is Volume 1 - Popular Ribbing, there will be more volumes coming soon to better broaden your technique and create even more beautiful wearable works of art.
