If you enjoy reading a collection of short stories and essays, do I have a book for you. Since childhood, Hammad Farooqui has created various types of written works. Hammad has a desire to educate and entertain middle and high schoolers. In A Collection of Short Stories and Essays: For Middle and High School, young people will get pleasure from enjoying some of Hammad’s work. This collection contains over thirty poems and essays on different subjects, from fear and fantasy to the afterlife. Readers will find a variety of short stories and essays from I Was Alone in the House When the Doorbell Rang to A Meeting With a Ghost. This book offers so much creativity that it will not only stimulate the reader's cognitive abilities, but will encourage them to expand their vision, thoughts and outlook on how they view the world around them.

This book was great because it also allowed me to experience different forms of writing, which makes this book fun. The aspects of the essays displayed how individuals can see the same things differently. Some of the essay questions offer a great learning experience for young people, especially those that draw readers into helping to build the story, from a bank robbery and three men finding a bag of gold to people on the streets acting strangely. Even though Hammad provides his own take on the essay questions, anyone can create their own answers. What creates a special touch is the West Indian culture that Hammad brings that provides the reader with a cultural and educational experience. In order to improve our world view, learning about others and getting creative is the key.
