Thomas Hraynyk’s A.M.P.D. is an easy-to-read action adventure with a lot of combat situations and graphic content in tune with the overall plot. The characters are well constructed and build realistic relationships over time, with a nice blend of surprises and some hidden feelings that are well crafted; the relationship between Crow and Sun was a great example of this. In many ways, A.M.P.D. is a powerful read, but the most prevalent feeling I was left with was that of despair because I know that this is a work of fiction, but I am certain the types of manipulation and abuse covered actually take place on a day-to-day basis in the real world. That is a sobering realization that everyone should contemplate, and A.M.P.D. may just be the catalyst to discovery.

First Lieutenant Chase Campbell was in a caravan carrying medical supplies when they walked into an ambush in the Turkish region. The damage to Chase’s right side was extensive, causing the Commanding General Seagar to send him off to the AMPD. At the Artificial Military Prosthetics Division (AMPD), Chase acquired robotic limbs. He met other select people like him, who formed a team under the General’s command. The team would go after two notorious arms-dealing siblings and a former Romanian Army General recruiting for a terrorist group. As the group advanced in their mission, they fell into a tangled web of manipulation stretched far beyond their imaginations. In A.M.P.D. by Thomas Hraynyk, everyone is a pawn and only the cleverest and bravest will survive.

A.M.P.D. by Thomas Hraynyk was a fast-paced and action-packed novel that kept me on the edge of my seat. The book explored manipulation, power tussles, politics, deception, espionage, military might, betrayal, robotics, and more. I felt like I was watching a war between father (Dr. Peck) and son (Velnias) that snowballed into anarchy with everyone as collateral. The plot was brilliant, the story was realistic, and the characters were enthralling. Thomas is a talented writer who threw in unpredictable twists that captured my attention. I fell in love with the hilarious Sun and the fantastic robotic six. Brug was all muscle and no smarts, but I developed a grudging respect for Crow and Velnias! My appreciation goes to all the fallen, maimed, and active soldiers who put their lives on the line every day. This book deserves the big screen, and I want to read subsequent installments.

I really enjoyed this science fiction book. What a spectacular idea of converting injured soldiers into super heroes. The technology and medical ideas are interesting and imaginative. Chase is a like able character that tries to discover the mystery. . Action packed and a page turned this book is a must read! I can't wait for a sequel. Hint Hint!
