Jasper the parrot lived in the rainforest with his family and they were all Yellow Cheek Amazons. One day when their mama had gone out, both Jasper and his brother Willie jumped out of their nest and tried flapping their tiny wings. Their mama had told them that it would be a few more weeks before they could fly. Instead of flying like the other birds, they fell on the soft leaves below. Jasper could not find Willie and when he found him, they were scared. Luckily their mama found them and took them back home to the nest. Finally, the day came when they would learn how to fly. Though they heard their mama's instructions, they still fell on the ground. They met the spider monkey, Charlie. The next day when they tried flying, it was successful. Jasper, Willie, and their mama flew high above the treetops of the rainforest. Jasper couldn't wait to show Charlie he could fly. As Willie and Jasper grew older, their feathers became gorgeous and healthy. Along with Charlie, they discover the rainforest and realize the jungle was bigger than they thought.
