Author Biography

(I tried the snazzy third person thing, but I just wasn't feeling it...)

I am a seventeen year old student with albinism living in the Channel Islands. I've just finished my GCSEs including Drama, ICT and Art and I'm now indulging in my many hobbies, of which include writing, technology and art, and I hope to one day find a career which involves all three. I've completed my first novel in which I wrote whilst studying for my GCSEs, an urban fantasy adventure entitled A Shadow Full Of Sapphires which is available to buy in most ebook stores, and I'm now planning out the sequel.

As well as writing, I'm also very fond of making art, particularly making digital illustrations on my iPad, in which my drawings vary from fan arts to my own unique characters. I showcases almost all of my works on my Deviant Art account (in which I will be updating soon) and I usually upload speed art to my YouTube channel, which I am hoping to develop further soon, putting on tutorials and vlogs relating to my passions.

I am currently studying my A Levels: Art and Design, English Literature and surprisingly Computer Science. I hope to further my education taking a degree in Digital Arts in either the UK or hopefully the USA.

A Shadow Full of Sapphires by Jayd Alex Ingram is an urban fantasy set in the kingdom city of Evolo. The story begins with Ivory Kane, an albino teenager living in an orphanage since age seven, after her parents were killed in a fire that she survived. With frequent visits to the mental ward of the hospital, Ivory is constantly shunned and bullied by the other kids in the orphanage. Forced to live alone in the attic, she discovers one day that she was purposely left behind when everybody else moves out. She becomes a vagabond and street urchin whose only solace comes in the form of a powerful Norse deity. Her luck changes when she is led to a castle by a raven. The sole occupant of the castle is Erika, a resourceful woman who instantly adopts Ivory. After Erika begins educating her, Ivory’s destiny is awakened when she grabs the legendary sword of Vidarr. She is transformed into a powerful, shadow weaving vigilante with supernatural powers whose alter ego is named the Pierrot. Ivory is able to earn a small living as a sketch artist until she receives a handsome fee from a mysterious man whose sketch she named “The Preacher.” From there her adventures really begin when Erika identifies him.

Jayd Alex Ingram does a marvelous job of developing her plot with a variety of different and diverse characters. This well written story captures the innocence of youth versus the evil forces who would like nothing better than the corruption of her soul. When our heroine meets the royal family under extreme circumstances, Miss Ingram is able to pour heartfelt emotions into her characters. A Shadow Full of Sapphires allows the reader to embrace the dark through the eyes of someone who can identify, sympathise, and fall in love with its characters, especially Ivory Kane.
