Author Biography

Vivien Mayfair is the highly acclaimed author of the sweet, clean, contemporary romance Snowdrop Valley Series, with a central focus on the theme of books, seasons, and holidays. Vivien always dreamed of being a writer. After years of raising children as a single parent from a young age and various dismal jobs with no direction on what she wanted to do, Vivien decided to indulge her passion for books by earning an MA in English before turning to writing romance full-time. Before her novel days, she wrote homeschool curriculum, magazine articles, resumes and suspense stories, all while homeschooling or teaching English in college. One day, nearly twenty years after a brief obsession with Zebra historical romance, she picked up a western romance novel with an enticing cover. She became hooked on the genre once again and never looked back. She now creates sweet, wholesome, heartfelt romance that leaves readers feeling toasty on the inside and laughing on the outside. Her trademark sarcasm, themed holidays, and vibrant settings have gained her fans from all over. When not reading or writing, Vivien spends her time with animals, family, watching period drama movies or TV, or dreaming about her next autumn or snowy winter vacation to New England. Vivien resides in the Pacific Northwest.

A Sleepy Hollow Kiss: A Sweet and Spooky Halloween Romance is a holiday-themed contemporary romance novel written by Vivien Mayfair. Lane Sharp had found a safe space for herself and her little family at Snowdrop Valley’s Literary Arts College. Now with autumn in full foliage, apple recipes competed with ideas for her current project of designing a class on the grotesque in Gothic literature. Both threads coursed through her mind as she waited for her meeting with Madge Watkins, the college’s administrator. As Madge outlined her expectations for the newly created event, Lane’s head spun. A Halloween contest? Really? Then Madge dropped the bomb, the worst thing Lane could anticipate -- Madge was adamant about adding horror to the Gothic department’s offerings to increase student interest. Pushing Lane’s expected protests aside, Madge told her to expect a call from a freelance literary horror historian, an expert consultant with whom Madge expected Lane to work nicely. Miles Hall also had planned events in the past, so he seemed the perfect professional partner for her for this event.

A Sleepy Hollow Kiss will have most readers counting the days until the next fall season. As I read this perceptive and engaging novel, my mouth watered as I read of Lane’s baking plans, and I could smell the sweet scent of the autumnal harvest season. Lane and Miles couldn’t be more different or have started their working partnership off in a worse way, and watching as the sparks fly is fun. One can’t help but wonder as the two brilliant and diametrically opposed forces try to find common ground. Mayfair’s characters are authentic and well-defined, and her plot is lively and unpredictable. A Sleepy Hollow Kiss: A Sweet and Spooky Halloween Romance is most highly recommended.

A Sleepy Hollow Kiss: A Sweet and Spooky Halloween Romance by Vivien Mayfair is the story of Lane Sharp, a young woman who lives in a small town with her brother. When a man called Miles Hall moves to town, she soon finds herself falling for him, but does she really need the complication of a relationship with a single dad? Miles is equally wary of a relationship after losing his wife. He has his daughter to take care of, but he has a hard time resisting Lane. There was a lot going on with the characters and they had detailed back stories which I think the author wove well into the story. I think the interactions with Lane and Miles were very sweet and you could see that they were attracted to each other.

Vivien Mayfair has written a sweet romantic tale with A Sleepy Hollow Kiss: A Sweet and Spooky Halloween Romance. I think that the characters were well written and I loved the setting. Fall is a favorite time for me and I admit it was the cover that drew me to the book in the first place. I think that romance fans would love this book, although given the cover I feel it would be viewed as a seasonal book for fall and Halloween time. I understand this is part of a collection centered around holidays, which I think is a great idea. I would definitely recommend it to romance fans and fans of holiday-themed books.

A Sleepy Hollow Kiss: A Sweet and Spooky Halloween Romance by Vivien Mayfair is a romance novel set around the theme of Halloween in America, specifically in the northeast region of the country. The story revolves around Lane Sharp, a feisty young woman working as the director of a gothic research program at the Snowdrop Valley College of the Literary Arts, who also has hidden demons about horror stories regarding Halloween. On the other hand, Miles Hall is a Southern guy recently transplanted to the village in search of a wife and mother for his young daughter who is motherless. He has been burnt in love before and is looking for the right mother for his daughter. He has taken this job as a consultant for the literary event which the college is hosting and Lane is in charge. Inevitably, sparks fly between them as they both deal with their unspoken issues and what develops between them forms the plot of the novel.

In A Sleepy Hollow Kiss: A Sweet and Spooky Halloween Romance by Vivien Mayfair, I enjoyed the surrounding cast of characters just as much as the main protagonists, Lane and Miles themselves. Although Lane is nothing like what Miles is looking for on paper, the gradual developing dynamic of their relationship has been explored well. The writing style is light and breezy for the most part and often humorous, which makes it a fun read. I also liked that Lane is shown to be an independent woman who knows her own mind and the general cast of characters is relatable. This is an entertaining read especially for people who enjoy Halloween and the ghosts and pumpkins and everything that goes with it.

I was lucky enough to get a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for my blog. Whether you are a fan of Halloween or not, this holiday romance really pulls you into the fall spirit and makes you laugh all across the board. I find that the characters are unique, the banter engaging, and the sensory descriptions realistic enough to pull you in like you are really there. Highly recommended as a quick, sweet, charming read. And, what fun to read a romance set in a book town where everything is made of books. Sign me up for more , please!

This book is funny! Lane is a feisty woman who is passionate, stubborn, and dedicated to her work and her gifted little brother. As the sole guardian of her little brother, she puts his needs above her own, struggling to provide the extra care and attention he needs. If it wasn't for Zeph (her gothic best friend) and her owl (shhh, nobody's supposed to know she has one!), she would be alone in her struggles. But then comes Miles, a somewhat obnoxious country boy who adds to Lane's struggles at work and at home. They butt heads as they are forced to work together but they can't help but grow on each other.

But, this is not your typical Hallmark-like story. The characters have complex histories that affect their lives and their relationships, which the author weaves in beautifully. It's a wonderful romantic story that is perfect for a weekend read... and did I mention that it's funny?! I haven't chuckled that much in a long time. This is the second book I've read in the Snowdrop Valley Series and I can't wait to read the next one. If you don't know already, this series is set in a book town (a book designed around books!) that I wish I could visit in real life!
