In Adam’s Big Horses: Pull a Sleigh by Carolyn Wild, readers will enjoy the holiday-themed pictures of huge Clydesdale horses while appreciating the easy-to-follow text. Adam helps the big horses stay warm in their big red barn, eat yellow hay, get their new horseshoes put on, and of course, pull a sleigh in the snow. Through beautiful pictures and a touching storyline, this children’s book captures the excitement of majestic animals on a snowy winter’s day and the magic of the holiday season.

I think that Carolyn Wild’s Adam’s Big Horses is a great book for children that are at the age where it is helpful to have big, real-life pictures and easy-reading phrases like “I see big horses.” The author also includes helpful guidelines and a small picture dictionary featuring the words in the book. I think that young children will find the tale interesting and constructed in a way that is helpful for learners who don’t know “big” words just yet. I also liked the holly-decorated borders on the pages. This book will remind children and parents of Christmas and the popular song “Jingle Bells.” It is an ideal addition to any child's library and a wonderful way to get them excited about reading and learning about the world around them. It is a perfect book for young children to read when it gets close to the holiday season, or for any child that is interested in horses.
