Jessica Laurel Kane’s Anchors in the Storm is a short story about hopelessness, loss, and grief but somehow finding strength and courage from the people who reach out to you in times of despair. The story is filled with adorable illustrations and meaningful messages. This story intends to encourage and give hope, perfect for children and families experiencing hurt and sorrow.
Anchors in the Storm is a well-written and concise story filled with simple and well-defined illustrations. The message of the story was clearly shown through the sincere words and the illustrations depicted on each page. I feel that this story is definitely an eye-opener, not only for me but for others who may be experiencing similar pain and sadness. This book is appropriate and on-point especially for those people who feel lost and uncertain about their current situation.
Jessica Laurel Kane did a marvelous job of reaching out to her readers. The messages in the story were truly inspiring. The line that touched my heart the most would be, "even when you're scared or worried because the world feels too different or unfamiliar, you can rely on your anchor. Any hand will do, even your own." It made me feel like I was not alone and that if things get too heavy sometimes I can reach out and rely on someone to pull me up, even myself. I can see myself reading this brilliant story over and over again. It was an honor to read such a valuable, life-changing book. Great work!
