Angel Land by P.S. Scott is an angelic treat; a story woven with grace, mystery, coming of age, and strength. Gabriel dreams of becoming a Ruling Archangel, but first, he needs to pass the examination to get into the Holy Guild. Only one thing is preventing him from reaching his dreams. He's not like the other kids. He doesn't have wings, but that doesn't stop this young angel from trying. When he fails his examination, his dreams seem to be evaporating before his eyes until he accidentally stumbles upon a criminal and lands himself in the middle of angelic disappearances. Suddenly, he catches the attention of all the right angels, such as his hero Archangel Michael, and of all the wrong angels, such as a dangerous criminal that comes looking for him. As Gabriel searches for answers, he uncovers a secret project.

The setting is creative and original with a society of angels with well-known names that are introduced throughout such as the Archangel Michael and Archangel Castiel. The characters' names are angelic and each fitted to the individual personalities. P.S. Scott weaves a normal setting with little touches tweaked to fit an angelic theme with the Angel Patrol, the Amazing Angel Merchandise, wing shines, the town being called Celestia, and more little angel phrases. The various guilds are an important aspect of education and society within Celestia with each of the students vying for the perfect spot for their future. Gabriel's future depends on him passing the Guild Trainee Entrance Examination that starts with him going into the right guild.

Gabriel isn't like the other angelic kids and has to work hard to even get a chance to take the examination. He has no wings and this has him placed lower than the others who refer to him as a wing-shine boy (for he gives wing shines to angels) or wingless boy. He has a variety of friends that help him throughout as he searches for answers and uncovers secrets. The story is equal parts mystery and a coming of age journey as Gabriel is swept into a world of secrets which centers on the angels that have disappeared from the Northern Quarter. The story has action-filled moments, humor, and sincere moments of friendship. Angel Land is a unique story with a setting and characters entirely full of angels with a plot that weaves a mystery, a coming of age journey, and the path to self-discovery.
