“Animals have the amazing ability to be exactly what we need them to be.” Many of us have had the pleasure of experiencing this special bond that can exist between an animal and ourselves. I know I have. We might think that we’re saving the animal, perhaps a dog rescued from a shelter or off the streets. But, more often than not, it’s the animal saving us. If you’ve had the fortune of having a pet (or larger animal like a horse) in your life, you’ve probably felt that loving pull that makes you hug the animal, causing such soothing results, relaxing the soul, so to speak. There are countless stories we can share of these special bonds, stories where a pet has helped its human heal, overcome grief and loss, or just be that much-needed best friend to love and cherish.

Candace Gish’s book, Animal Prints on My Soul, is one of the Divas That Care Collection, stories about real-life bonds between humans and their special animal best friend forever. These stories will make you laugh, cry, perhaps even just ponder and reflect on the powers that bind two souls. The author has collected stories from other authors and organized them into a soulful, healing collection. The book is divided into sections, each ending with interactive guides, beginning with a collection of stories about healing, followed by a collection of stories titled Connection, stories that will just warm the heart as it discusses the many aspects of BFFs. The final section includes stories about love and loss, dealing with the heart, and the heartaches that often follow. This is a touching, compassionate collection, one that will warm the hearts of animal lovers everywhere.

In her inspirational book Animal Prints on My Soul, author Candace Gish helps us to understand that animals are more than just companions; they love us unconditionally and connect with us on a spiritual level. Animal Prints on My Soul contains numerous stories by a variety of female contributors, many of which relate to love, loss, healing, and connections. Candace encourages the reader to appreciate the gift of animals and has provided wonderful prompts for readers to create their own stories. All types of extraordinary animals who have made a significant impact on their owners are included such as birds, dogs, horses, and cats. These animals are our soulmates, confidants, and teachers. They teach us patience, caring, nurturing, and absolute love.

What a delightful book. Professionally researched and superbly written, Animal Prints on My Soul is the perfect book for any animal lover and would make an ideal gift, especially for those involved in animal care and animal rescue. A first-time pet owner would do well to read this educational masterpiece to fully appreciate and understand the value and honor of being solely responsible for the life and happiness of another being. Apart from the stories, I especially enjoyed reading about how to connect with animals, to take it slowly and not try to force them to do anything. Animals often teach us more than we teach them such as unconditional love and acceptance. Parting with these beautiful creatures at the end of their lives is heartbreaking but, for their sake, it is sometimes necessary. All-round, an enjoyable book highly recommended to adults, young and old.

Animal Prints on My Soul is Book 1 of the Divas That Care Collection. Candace Gish, the founder of Divas That Care, has worked with these women who love animals to publish this collection. The contributors vary from women who love animals to those working with animals such as vets, horse whisperers (and listeners), trainers, therapists, shamans, and animal communicators. Each tells their story of a unique connection with dogs, cats, horses, and birds. But even more, the book is about the impact that every animal had on their lives and the terrible loss they experienced when it was time for their beloved animals to move on.

I often find my dog just staring at me, possibly wishing I know what he is thinking. Thus, it amazes me how some of these women can 'hear' animals talk, as though they have an intimate, spiritual connection. Some even recount almost supernatural experiences of contact with animals after their deaths. The stories in the different categories show how animals can help us heal from trauma, bullying, sexual assault, etc., through solitude and companionship. Our connection with animals gives us friendship, unconditional love, and acceptance. When we take care of animals, we learn responsibility and connect deeper with them. But these stories also tell us of loss and how losing an animal teaches us how to deal with grief. Reading these stories created in me a sense of wonder about the magical characteristics of animals and a longing to connect deeper with my dog.
