Drawing inspiration from her experiences, AntiSeptic by Maura Stone is a comedy drama. After losing her high-paying job on Wall Street, Maura had to sell her apartment in the city and move to her family's summer cottage on the shores of Lake Colitis in Camelot, Septic County, New York. Little did she know everything would turn upside down as she tried to navigate small-town life, broke and unemployed. If annoying neighbors and gossiping postmasters weren't enough, Septic County's unruly tourists, ultra-religious people, summer homeowners, corrupt officials, and most of all, the inhabitants of Camelot, soon make her life a living hell. Additionally, Maura is diagnosed with a brain tumor, and her failure to pay property taxes threatens to put her house on auction.

AntiSeptic is a rip-roaring account of a woman trying to come to terms with a place and its people who live different lives than she was used to. Maura Stone infuses humor and heart that feels part memoir/part comedy/part drama. As readers, we see the events unfold through the eyes of Maura, and you can feel the frustration and anger brewing inside her as she deals with ever-increasing chaotic situations and circumstances. Maura's rapidly deteriorating relationships with Butterfly and Hilaria were hilarious, considering she favored one over the other for quite some time. Overall, a thoroughly entertaining novel that will give you a chuckle or two.
