Are You Eating My Lunch by Dr. Nicole is a cute and colorful children’s book about a little boy named Xavier who loses his lunch at the zoo. Due to this mishap, he walks around the zoo and approaches different animals to ask them if they have his lunch. They all send him on his way to a new destination. By doing this, he gets the opportunity to learn all of the unique foods that each animal eats. By the end of the book, the lunch mystery is solved and Xavier gets to enjoy his lunch. This children’s book is written both in English and French so it is very educational because it teaches kids two languages at once. The simple vocabulary and vibrant illustrations used in this book are very suitable for young readers.

I enjoyed reading Are You Eating My Lunch by Dr. Nicole, because it is a quick read that teaches kids what zoo animals eat and it also helps them learn two languages – English and French. This book is appropriate for young students learning to read since it uses very basic grammar. The book’s pages are filled with colorful images and this helps to keep readers interested in the story. I take my kids to visit the zoo often and they love seeing the different animals and learning about their lifestyles. We once even had the opportunity to feed the giraffes lettuce leaves and see them munch on tree leaves, as this book portrays. This children’s book also mentions what other zoo animals eat and my kids will have a better understanding of their special diets next time we visit the zoo.

Are You Eating My Lunch? by Dr. Nicole is a brilliant book for kids. Honestly, what attracted me most was the fact that it is an English and French reader. In this age of globalization, a child needs every competitive advantage they can acquire. To grow up bilingual or even multilingual is a great head start. America was a little slow to realize this, but in many countries around the world this has long been something taken for granted. Dr. Nicole chooses her target languages and then creates a wonderful tale that can be enjoyed by children who speak both languages. In this particular case it is English and French. Books like this are a great idea but it all falls flat if the story and illustrations fail to capture the interest and imagination of children. That is definitely not a problem here.

I really want to compliment the illustrator, Kathy Kerber. Children are just drawn (no pun intended) to the big, bold, colorful pictures. I know nothing about art or art theory. I only know that my kids loved the pictures and were very happy to hear the story that went with them. I know from experience that it’s hard to bore kids with animals, especially when they are rendered on the page in vivid, beautiful colors. Are You Eating My Lunch? is a charming story that every child can understand, enjoy, and learn from. I hope Dr. Nicole writes many more stories like this. She may even consider translating into other languages besides French and English.

Are You Eating My Lunch?: Manges-Tu Mon Lunch? is a bilingual children’s educational picture book written by Dr. Nicole and illustrated by Kathy Kerber. The author is a family doctor as well as an award-winning children's author. Xavier is visiting the zoo, but he discovers at noon that he has misplaced his lunch. He decides to see if anyone else is eating his lunch and starts asking each animal in the zoo if they are eating his lunch. Xavier first asks the snake who explains that he is eating eggs, not Xavier’s lunch. The snake suggests that he ask the goat. The goat isn't eating Xavier’s lunch either but recommends he ask another animal. No one seems to have his lunch; they're all eating their own food.

Dr. Nicole’s educational bilingual picture book, Are You Eating My Lunch?: Manges-Tu Mon Lunch? entertains as it teaches children how to process sentences in a second language. While they are following Xavier as he tries to discover the whereabouts of his missing lunch, they are also repeatedly reading the corresponding phrase in the new language. This book will also serve as a fun brush-up for adult caregivers whose bilingual skills have gotten a bit rusty.

The reader is exposed to new vocabulary for the animals and the foods they eat, as well as being presented with phrases and syntactic structures that are easily compared and contrasted as the child reads. This book is basically an entire introductory English/French language lesson without the usually dreaded list of vocabulary lurking at the end of the text. Kerber’s illustrations are fun and brightly colored, and each panel reinforces the topic for that page. Are You Eating My Lunch?: Manges-Tu Mon Lunch? is most highly recommended.

Are You Eating My Lunch?: Manges-Tu Mon Lunch? by Dr. Nicole is an adorable bilingual storybook for children. Xavier can't find his lunch. It's lunchtime and he is at the zoo. He goes around asking all the animals in the zoo whether they know where his lunch is, and finally the squirrel tells him to ask the zookeeper. The zookeeper gives Xavier his lunch which he found at the zoo gate. Both of them sit together to eat their lunch and they have a picnic. This educational and informative tale tells children about the animals in the zoo and what they eat.

The book is fun and interactive and teaches young readers about the food habits of many animals. Being bilingual, the book reaches out to more readers. The illustrations are lively and colorful and breathe life into the scenes and characters, giving the story a good pace and movement. It makes a good bedtime storybook and can also be used for read aloud sessions in school libraries and classrooms.

The author uses a fun method to teach readers about the food habits of animals. It's always easier to make children understand concepts, thoughts and ideas with the help of pictures and story-telling and this book does just that. Children learn a lot of new things from the story such as the names of animals, their food habits, and also new words. The author's simple and elegant style of writing does a good job of combining learning with story.

Are You Eating My Lunch? by Dr. Nicole is the story of Xavier who loses his lunch whilst on a visit to the zoo. The story follows him as he goes from one animal to another, asking if they are eating his lunch. Each animal refers him to another, explaining exactly what they are eating. After trekking around the zoo, he is finally referred to the zookeeper who has some good news for him. The story is also told in French.

This is a delightful yet simple story that takes the reader on a journey around the zoo where Xavier visits each animal to inquire if they are eating his lunch. The animals reply with an explanation of what they are eating, and suggest another animal Xavier might ask. The text is short, concise and repetitive which makes it ideal for early readers. In fact, this little story incorporates several aspects that would make it ideal for a discussion point in a classroom setting. Firstly, there is the nutritional aspect and the type of food applicable to each animal. Secondly, there is the repeated text in French which gives the young child an introduction to another language and a fun way to learn.

The illustrations are colourful and appropriate and make this a book that would be ideal for reading at home with a parent as well as in a classroom setting. Simplicity is the key here and the author, Dr. Nicole, has cleverly incorporated a learning experience with a fun story, which is sure to make this a popular read.
