At the Corner of Destiny and Ingenuity by Paul Owhadi describes Paul's life from Iran to England, finally settling in the USA. In Iran, Paul is greatly influenced by his grandfather, who teaches him the importance of hard work. Another significant event that affected Paul's life was being sent to a boarding school at the tender age of four. The priests there taught him the importance of discipline and self-reliance. It also exposed him to diversity, as it was an international school. His journey takes him back to Iran, then to England, and finally to the USA, where he fulfills his dreams. It is home. His first days in New York are not a bed of roses, but he doesn't give up. Paul gets his graduate degree, becomes a city manager, and eventually goes into private practice, as he had always wanted.

One of my biggest takeaways from At the Corner of Destiny and Ingenuity by Paul Owhadi was the importance of being hardworking and bold. I loved the self-reflection questions Paul provided at the end of each chapter, which enabled me to delve deeper into the meaning of different life occurrences. Another thing that stands out in the book is the need to embrace tolerance and diversity, or, as Paul wonderfully puts it, to be comfortable with oneself while simultaneously being comfortable around others. All the events in Paul's life were also vividly captured and were entertaining to read while also being effective in passing on the intended message. This isn't just a detailed account of Paul's life but also an inspiring and thought-provoking work that triggered me to think more about my life and career.
