B: B Kind. B Confident. B Inspired by Lexie Kareen explains that B doesn’t like the idea of moving to a new house or going to a new school. She doesn’t want to leave her friends and isn’t sure if she’ll make new ones as quickly as her dad says. Will B adapt to her new school and make new friends? Will she fit in and find friends and activities that she can enjoy? B is a ten-year-old girl who loves her family, friends, and of course, horses. She faces several situations that are common to children her age, including the fear of the unknown and trying new things, being impatient when she wants to learn something too quickly, and understanding how others might feel excluded. What can B learn from these situations?

The stories in this book are told from the perspective of a ten-year-old girl who faces the challenges of life as it changes. Each tale includes common childhood situations that young readers can easily relate to. The number of characters is small, which makes it easy for children to identify with and learn from each new person they meet along the way. I loved that each story has a unique plot but retains the familiar characters. The illustrations by A. Simioni are great additions that will keep children entertained and reading. I recommend B by Lexie Kareen to young children that love adventure tales they can learn from.
