Author Biography

Eileen Gillick found her story idea for Babyland, around the age of ten, after admiring baby photos of herself. She found herself in a state of FOMO (fear of missing out) and wanted to put herself in a written series as her “baby” self.

Babyland (When I Was a Baby) is a fun comic book written and illustrated by Eileen Gillick. The story introduces you to a variety of baby characters. We first meet Baby at the Tiny Feet playground, and she is later joined by Funny baby and Sleepy baby. The crew is finally complete when Nature baby and Fashion baby show up. All the babies have different personalities and love spending time together. On this particular day, they discuss their experiences in their mothers' wombs and the events that transpired during their birth. Read Babyland and find out what each baby remembers about their birthday and discover the shocking revelation of how they all became friends.

Babyland (When I Was a Baby) is a funny story with a great cast. Eileen Gillick did a splendid job creating this book. I was surprised by how well this book was arranged. The author even added a glossary of baby terms used. Each of the babies' accounts of events is hilarious and filled with tales of sewing machines, comics, jungles, and many other unrealistic situations. The icing on the cake was the shocked looks on the doctors' faces. Be warned, the story contains language and inappropriate images. Therefore, I would not recommend it to kids. Other than this, the story is engaging and perfectly told through the pictures. I loved the illustrations because they were clear and added to the book's comedic theme. I wish to read more about these characters because I enjoyed their diverse personalities. Babyland has a great premise with endless possibilities and the potential to produce more books and a television show.
